There is a volunteer effort underway to give downtown Kirkland a "Clean Sweep" to get ready for summer. Even if it still feels like October. This Saturday - head to McLeod Insurance on Park Lane at 9:30am. You need to grab everyone you know and some work gloves, weeding tools, screwdrivers, crack hoes (haha- is there really something with that name??!!), brooms, 5 gallon buckets and water bottles. In exchange for all of your sweeping, weeding, moss removing, litter picking and sidewalk cleaning, you will receive hot beverages from Starbucks and pastries from George's followed up by lunch at noon at The Grape Choice provided by Merrill Gardens.

Here are a couple of recent shots I have taken around downtown that had me a bit grossed out. Uh, I mean, concerned (much more PC). Glad to see there is a community event to get our lakefront gem shiny again!! Please RSVP so there's enough food for everyone: info@kirklanddowntown.org or 425-893-8766. ~j

That's really good sense and good manner as well. Everyone should clean their own city.

Cleaning is the best habit that can a man adopt in his life.
